"If you stare at an object, as you do when you paint, there is no point at which you stop learning from it."
- Wayne Thiebaud
I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia and can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't painting or drawing. I studied oil painting in high school with Williamsburg artist, Rosalind Woltz and went on to major in Fine Art at Virginia Commonwealth University.
I moved to New York, where I worked in computer graphics, continuing my art education at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and the State University of New York at Purchase.
I work primarily in oils and am a realist painter. I alternate between alla prima painting and building up paintings with transparent layers of paint. I try to elevate the everyday subject through my own style and interpretation.
