Jessica Cannon has grown up with an intuition, love, creativity, and appreciation for art from a young age and has been fortunate to have had a creative background instilled in her as a young child. Jessica graduated from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia, with a double major Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Studio Art. Jessica has a passion for art that she captivates in each mixed media painting created. With an eye for color, texture and design, Jessica`s paintings infuse a sculptural effect that is considered solely for abstraction purposes creating a tactile surface quality. She considers her paintings to be purely experimental, including various textures and mediums that inspire each piece. Jessica challenges herself to reflect on the efforts that draw from the contemporary art world of today as a source of motivation within her own artwork. Jessica makes use of a thick paint application process, turning recognizable objects into the abstracted. She strives to create artwork that lures the viewer into making them want to reach out and touch the actual artwork as the aim of what she wants to captivate.
Jessica continues to pursue her passion for the arts throughout various exhibits to represent her place among today`s society. Jessica`s accomplishments in the Area of the Arts includes displaying at the Sage Moon Gallery, Charlottesville, Virginia; displaying at the Fredericksburg Arts and Crafts Festival at Hurkamp Park, Fredericksburg, Virginia; displaying at the Fredericksburg Fine Arts Exhibit, Fredericksburg, Virginia; displaying at Arts in the Park at Byrd Park, Richmond, Virginia; displaying at the Heritage River Art Guild Annual Art Show, Colonial Beach, Virginia; the King George County Artist Guild Biannual Art Show, King George, Virginia; the John Tyler Community College art show, “Fool for Art”, located in Midlothian, Virginia; the Lazy Daze Arts & Craft Festival in Cary, North Carolina, and most recently completed a solo art exhibition at the Shenandoah Valley Arts Center in Waynesboro, Virginia.
